My 85 went tits up on me so I decided to just buy a new truck. Craigslist ad said a 1990 toyota sas, so I drove two hours to go look at it. Took one look at it and told the kid that it's not a 90. Turns out that it's an 84 with a 90 cab on it. But oh well, I still bought it.

Truck features:

- A 6" lift (not sure what brand)
- Detroit locker in the rear
- Detroit locker in the front
- Some bling 18" wheels with 35" tires
- Custom hillbilly flat bed

Got my 1.5" wheel spacers on all 4 corners. Got my old steel wheels with 35s on the truck.

Stripped off the flat bed.

Finally found a bed on craigslist. The ad said
Quote:
Parting out a 1990 Toyota 4x4
XCab
Good 5 speed trans
transfer case.
Cab and bed are straight
All body parts in excellent shape but will need to be re-painted.

Rear V6 axle
3.0 V6 motor
2 front chrome bumpers
2 Front chrome grills
Aftermarket chrome nerf bars
Aftermarket Receiver hitch

I get out there today and look at this bed, it's beat to hell! So I talked him way down on his price. Look at this bed, how can you say it's in "excellent" shape?!?

And this is what I brought home

Got started cutting

Found a good 1/4" of bondo on one whole side, yay!

Image

And got it put back together

Still need to do some finishing on it. This was the worst one I've ever done, definitely a challenge with a beat up bed.

Got all of my welding done. The inside of the bed is beat and was a PAIN to weld, but it's finally done.

Image

Got my new taillight installed

Image

Front bumper on. Needs some adjusting to make it fit right on this truck, it can wait though.

Image

Got some bondo spread.

Image

Tool box mounted, cb antenna mounted, and spare tire.

Thanks, it's starting to get there...

A little bit of flex...

And it's not a perfect color match, but it's close enough for now.

Now that all of the important stuff is done, I decided I should do some legalizing.

Cut up the stock front bumper and used pieces for the blinkers

Image

And the license plate tabs from the stock front bumper

Image

Front is legal

Image

Image

Picked up a new spare tire today, same height as my runners. Put on a couple of stickers, still waiting for the rest to show up.

Image

And to finish it all off, got my chrome/black TRD valve stem caps in the mail today. :)

Image

And then took it out to see how it does

Trying to fix what I did
